LECTURES and PRESENTATIONS
Lecture
on “Militaria from the Gallipoli Campaign”
The time and venue of
the Society’s lecture program is 2:00 PM on the first Saturday of every month
at City of Sydney RSL, 561-567 George Street, Sydney CBD. Our lectures by
leading historians, writers and battlefield guides range from in-depth analysis
of great battles to displays of military artifacts, such as from Gallipoli, to
debates about preservation of battlefield sites and naval shipwrecks. Lectures
often develop into open group discussions.

Reconnaissance is the Society’s quarterly
magazine, which features original articles on subjects as diverse as Australian
First World War Lt-Gen JG Legge, the Malayan Emergency, the Saratoga Campaign
of the American Revolutionary War, Monash and the Battle of Hamel, the U-2 Spy
Plane Incident, the Battle of Lake Tanganyika of 1915, the Warsaw Uprising of
1944 and several bios and book reviews.
SITE EXCURSIONS
Visit to HMAS Choules
In recent times
parties of Society members visited the Lithgow Small Arms Factory, the
Australian War Memorial in Canberra and the Royal Australian Navy Amphibious
Landing Ship HMAS Choules at Fleet Base East Garden Island in Sydney, each time
accompanied by Society leaders with the background and knowledge to ensure they
were particularly enriching experiences.
