HMAS Kuttabul 80th Anniversary Commemoration - 31 May 2022
The Kuttabul Commemoration Project and the Military History Society of New South Wales are honoured to co-organise this year's 80th anniversary commemoration of the tragic wartime sinking of HMAS Kuttabul. In the early hours of 1 June 1942 the former ferry was struck by a torpedo fired from a Japanese midget submarine which had entered Sydney Harbour on 31 May, resulting in the loss of nineteen Royal Australian Navy and two Royal Navy sailors. A number of others were wounded. The Kuttabul Commemoration Project has organised commemoration events on two previous significant anniversaries involving activities similar to the program for Tuesday, 31 May 2022, featuring: A four hour charter tour of Sydney Harbour on board the floating glass ballroom Bella Vista (including b uffet menu with additional prawns, DJ and alcoholic beverages).
